Paying Citations

All citations must be paid at least 24 hours prior to the court date the officer assigned on the citation. If the officer checked the box indicating the court appearance is mandatory you must appear in court on that date and time. Some citations are issued without a fine indicated. Contact the Court Clerk's officer for more information on how to satisfy the citation and determine the court costs and fine. Court costs and fines can be paid with cash, money order, cashier's check, personal check, or Visa and Mastercard. There is a $35.00 fee for any returned checks and a warrant may be issued if payment and return check fee is not paid.

Tickets for child restraint misuse, window tint violation, and light law violations can usually be settled before the court date. Contact the Court Clerk's office for more information.

If you choose to appear in court you must appear in court on the date and time the officer assigned on your citation. If you appear in court the court costs and fines indicated on your citation are no longer valid. The Judge will determine court costs and fines at the time of your hearing with the Judge. Court costs vary depending on the type of violation and fines are at the discretion of the Judge. Payment plans are available at the discretion of the Judge.

You can request to change your court date one time. Your court date can only be extended two weeks and the time cannot be changed. If an extension is granted, your new court appearance becomes mandatory and you cannot settle the citation before court.
