Defensive Driving School is offered monthly at the Collegedale Municipal Building. The classes are offered on Sundays beginning at 12:30p.m. The course is an 8 hour course approved by the National Safety Council. If you receive a citation and wish to take a defensive driving course you must appear in court and the Judge must order you to take defensive driving. You must take the defensive driving course offered by Collegedale unless the Judge approves you to take a course elsewhere. Defensive driving courses offered via the Internet are not accepted. The cost of the course is $75.00 and you must pay before you can schedule a date to take the course.
Once you have completed the defensive driving school course you will be given a certificate of completion and one will be forwarded to the court clerk to place in your file. After completing the course and receiving no further citations you do not have to appear in court again unless the Judge indicated it was mandatory to return. If you do not take a defensive driving course by the date the Judge has ordered, you must appear in court on that date. If you have received another citation you must appear in court on the date given by the Judge.
