Tom Turk
Records Clerk
The Records Division maintains reports of all incidents, accidents, and arrests reported to the Collegedale Police Department. The records clerk processes and files reports and responds to public requests for records.
Following the provisions of Tennessee Code, most records are available to the public. Requests for police incident or accident reports can be made by contacting the records division. Please have the case number of the report for quick access to reports.
For accident reports, please allow five business days before requesting a copy of the report. There is a fee of $5.00 to obtain a report unless you are the victim requesting the report. Please note: Accident reports do not contain insurance information. It is each driver’s responsibility to exchange insurance information at the time of the accident.
The Records Division can conduct background checks. Background checks are limited to records held by the Collegedale Police Department. You must appear in person, fill out a request form, and present identification. If you need a background check for Tennessee, contact the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at (615)744-4000 or at their website: www.tbi.state.tn.us/tbibackgrounds/background_checks.htm. If you need a nationwide background check you must contact the FBI at (304)625-5590 or at their website: www.fbi.gov. Background check requests from the military or other government agencies may be faxed or mailed.
