Q. – I just moved to Collegedale. How does garbage pickup work?
A. – If you do not already have a blue garbage can call City Hall at 396-3135 to have one dropped off. This is intended for regular household items such as food wastes and rubbish and is collected weekly. Our garbage pickup collection schedule alphabetically lists the pickup days by street.
Q. – How do I dispose of household hazardous waste?
A. – There is a drop off site at the recycling center

Q. – What happens when my regular garbage pickup day is on a holiday?
A. – Normally it will be picked up the following Wednesday. However, please check the holiday garbage pickup schedule for more information.
Q. – I have more garbage than can fit into the blue container provided by the city. What should I do?
A. – If you are working on a temporary project like cleaning out your house, the city provides temporary dumpsters for its residents. If you need an extra garbage can you can come by City Hall and pay a $65 fee and another blue garbage container will be delivered to your residence.
Q. – What about larger trash items such as old appliances, etc.?
A. – In addition to the weekly garbage pickup, the city provides a monthly trash pickup specifically for larger items. Visit the garbage and trash pickup schedule for a list of streets and pickup days.
Q. – Does the city pickup brush, leaves, and tree trimmings?
A. – Yes. Public Works will pick up the equivalent of one pickup truck load. Tree trimmings should be no more than 10 feet in length and no more than 9 inches in diameter. If you have hired a professional tree service they are responsible for their own brush removal. Visit the garbage and trash pickup schedule for a list of streets and pickup days.
Q. – I would like to recycle. Does the city provide service to pick up recyclable items?

Q. – Does the city provide free mulch to residents of Collegedale?
A. – Yes. Mulch is available to residents of Collegedale at no charge. Delivery is scheduled around the workload of the Public Works Department. Please contact City Hall at 396-3135 to request delivery of mulch.
Q. – I would like to burn my brush. How may I obtain a burning permit?
A. – You must obtain a permit to burn and all burning requirements and permits are handled by the Air Pollution Control Bureau, 643-5970. No burning is allowed from May 1 through September 30.
