Collegedale Tomorrow Advisory Board
WHEREAS, the City of Collegedale is facing a major challenge of potential growth;
WHEREAS, development perspectives and market conditions are changing due to incoming manufacturing companies to Enterprise South;
WHEREAS, the East part of Hamilton County is experiencing major growth;
THEREFORE, it is proposed that a standing advisory board be established known as the “Collegedale Tomorrow Advisory Board (CTAB).”
Purpose
The primary purpose of CTAB is to generate a vision of community development and preservation, and to make recommendations and/or provide key information and materials to the city leaders, the City Commission, and the Planning Commission that ensures that Collegedale is a city of which its citizens are proud. The board does not have formal authority to govern and cannot issue directives which must be followed.
CTAB will:
• promote quality development and new investment within the city,
• preserve character and quality of neighborhoods,
• encourage innovation in residential development,
• further a balance of commercial, industrial, institutional, and transportation land uses,
• advocate equal opportunity in housing that sustains economic diversity of housing and provides for the disabled and elderly,
• conserve the values of buildings and land,
• foster convenient, compatible, and efficient relationships among land uses,
• provide an overview of conservation easements within the city,
• advocate access to transportation networks.
Membership
The membership will include relevant stakeholders and citizens who live within the city limits of Collegedale. Nominations of the members will be made by the City Manager, and confirmed by the City Commission. The City Commission shall appoint the chair of the board from within the membership, excluding the mayor, planning commission chair, and city manager.
The nine members will include:
· Six (6) residents of the City of Collegedale who are willing to represent the multiple vested interests of the City which may include, but not limited to, Business Enterprises, Education, Manufacturing, Housing, Quality of Life and Community Involvement, Diversity, Dining and Eateries, etc.
· Mayor of Collegedale
· Planning Commission Chairperson
· City Manager
Duties
1. Meet on the fourth Monday of each month;
2. Present a quarterly report to the City Commission;
3. Seek public input as to what citizens value in the city and their ideas for a better community;
4. Inventory city infrastructure to determine the need for new and/or improved infrastructure;
5. Inventory cultural and natural assets of the city (parks, schools, recreation, cultural facilities, industries, and events);
6. Recommend plans for implementation, including financial costs.
