Term Expires March 2011

Larry and his wife Eleanor and their two daughters moved to Collegedale in 1966—two years before it was incorporated as a city. From that time until his retirement in 1999 he was a member of the Southern Adventist University faculty where he taught mathematics and, for much of this time, chaired the mathematics department. During the ’74-75 academic year he was a visiting professor of mathematics at Middle East College in Beirut, Lebanon and from 1978 to 1982 served as SAU’s vice president for academic administration. Prior to moving to Collegedale Larry taught at California State University in Chico and California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. His bachelor’s degree is from California State University at Los Angeles, master’s from the University of California at Davis, and doctorate from Florida State University. Larry and Eleanor, who served as SAU’s health service director for many years, have an active retirement of volunteer work, gardening, travel, reading, and visiting family and friends. Larry finds his responsibilities as a city commissioner to be both challenging and rewarding.
