Please put trash, large trash items, or brush out the night before pick up or before 7:00 am on the pick up day.
Does the City of Collegedale offer complimentary mulch?

I just moved to Collegedale, how does garbage pickup work?
If you do not already have a blue garbage, please call City Hall at (423) 396-3135 to have one dropped off. This is intended for regular household items such as food wastes and rubbish and is collected weekly. Our garbage pickup schedule alphabetically lists the pickup days by street.
How do I dispose of household hazardous waste?
There is a drop off site at the recycling center operated by the City of Chattanooga, located at 3925 North Hawthorne Street, about 2 blocks behind the Police Training Center on Amnicola Highway. Collegedale Public Works will not pick up household hazardous waste materials.
What happens when my regular garbage pick up day is on a holiday?
Normally it will be picked up the following Wednesday. However, please check the holiday garbage pickup schedule for more information.
I have more garbage than can fit into the blue container provided by the city. What should I do?
If you are working on a temporary project, such as cleaning out your house, the city provides temporary dumpsters for its residents. If you need an extra garbage can you can come by City Hall and pay a $95 fee and another blue garbage container will be delivered to your residence.
What about larger trash items such as old appliances?
In addition to the weekly garbage pickup, the city provides a monthly trash pickup specifically for larger items. View the garbage and trash pickup schedule for a list of streets and pickup days.
Does the city pickup brush, leaves, and tree trimmings?
Yes, Public Works will pick up the equivalent of one pickup truck load. Tree trimmings should be no more than 10 feet in length and no more than 9 inches in diameter. If you have hired a professional tree service they are responsible for their own brush removal. View the garbage and trash pickup schedule for a list of streets and pickup days. City residents should bag all yard leaves and grass clippings and place the bags at edge of their street in biodegradable bags (paper or plastic biodegradable bags are fine). An online source for biodegradable bags can be found at greenpaperproducts.com.
I would like to recycle. Does the city provide service to pick up recyclable items?
Six recycling bins are located at the Collegedale Public Works Department on Sanborn Drive. Sanborn Drive is the first turn to the right, at the old city sign, east of the crest of the Apison Pike Pass through White Oak Ridge. Follow the signs to the recycling center, which is on the right.
The center is open on Sunday 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Tuesday 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Wednesday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Friday 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
I would like to burn my brush. How may I obtain a burning permit?
You must obtain a permit to burn and all burning requirements and permits are handled by the Air Pollution Control Bureau. The bureau can be reached by calling (423) 643-5970. No burning is allowed from May 1 through September 30.
