Katie A. Lamb and family moved to Collegedale in January 1972. Until her retirement in 2006, she taught nursing at Southern Adventist University, became Dean of the School of Nursing and later was Associate Vice President for Academics, and Dean of Graduate Studies.

Katie holds a BS degree in Nursing Education from Union College in Lincoln, NE.  She continued her education at the University of Central Arkansas receiving a MSN in Nursing Education and a PhD in Nursing Administration and Higher Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has practiced nursing in hospitals located in NE, CO, TX, MD, GA, and TN.

Her interest lies in many areas. She and her husband enjoy traveling both in the States and abroad.  Hobbies include quilting, reading, and antiquing. She is also a volunteer for the Greater Chattanooga United Way organization.

Katie’s family consist of her husband of 51 years, Ed, a professor of social work and sociology; son, John, self-employed; daughter, Lt Comdr Janet Lamb, US Navy; and two granddaughters, Kate and Molly.

My goal as a city commissioner is to work toward making Collegedale a place where all citizens feel inclusive and enjoy a secure and pleasant community. Many changes have occurred since Collegedale was incorporated. It is important that all residents have the opportunity to voice how they see their city grow and develop.
